Solemn Morning
17 yrs old
My dream job would have to be a horror film poster illustrator. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a deep love and respect for the horror genre. I love art that has the ability to evoke strong emotion, and my favorite horror films are often the ones that left me truly uneasy at some point throughout. I’d love to be able to bring my own creativity and perspective to collaborations with some of the genre’s best directors, like Jordan Peele and Robert Eggers.
English class has always had a special place in my heart, as it’s one of, if not the only subject, that lets you travel to other worlds without ever having to leave your seat. I love getting to read such a variety of books, like Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds in my Freshman year, and The Great Gatsby in my second. Furthermore, as a writer myself, I’m always thankful to have designated time to improve my skills.
A fun fact about myself is that I moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in the middle of my sophomore year of high school!
If I could make the world a better place with just one action, I’d find a way to get rid of financial hardship. When I think of my own and the struggles of those in my community and who I come into contact with, finances are often at the root of the issue. If we as people didn’t have to worry about our financial standing to simply survive in this world, I think a lot more good could and would be done.
